Kansas City Chiefs push for dynamic RB in one bold trade scenario

Kansas City Chiefs push for dynamic RB in one bold trade scenario

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs want to do the unthinkable during the upcoming 2024 NFL season. They want to win a third straight Super Bowl.

While that goal won’t be easy to achieve, the Chiefs did improve during the NFL offseason.

Kansas City was able to sign Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to add a dynamic layer to the offense. They also drafted Xavier Worthy in the 2024 NFL Draft to do the same.

Defensively, the Chiefs were able to retain star defensive lineman Chris Jones. They did have to trade away L’Jarius Sneed, but they are confident the defense will be an elite unit again this year.

Despite all the improvements and additions, the Kansas City Chiefs may not be done yet. They are urged to consider a trade before the start of the 2024 NFL season.

Kansas City Chiefs push for dynamic RB in bold trade scenario

ClutchPoints took a look at some of the players the Chiefs should consider trading for before the regular season. One of those players was Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert.

“Herbert is a good player who can keep Pacheco fresh or fill in for him if he ever misses time. He certainly has more juice on the floor than Edwards-Helaire or McKinnon. With a logjam in Chicago’s backfield, he could be available for a late pick or swap. Kansas City could and should afford that to increase their depth at the running back spot.

Herbert would be an excellent addition to the Kansas City Chiefs. He has dynamic speed and playmaking ability. In addition to his running skills, he could be a weapon as a receiver out of the backfield for Mahomes.

During the 2023 season with the Bears, Herbert ended up carrying the football 132 times for 611 yards and two touchdowns. These numbers average out to over 4.6 yards per carry. He also caught 20 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.

If the Chiefs were to make a trade for Herbert, he would compete for the backup running back job. More than likely he would have a good chance of winning that job.

The Kansas City Chiefs have made it clear this season that they want offensive weapons. Herbert is the definition of an assault weapon.

It should be interesting to acquire that kind of playmaking ability for a late-round pick.
