City breaks ground on Blaisdell solar canopy project

City officials and contractors went to work at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center on the solar canopy project, which will place photovoltaic panels atop the facility’s parking structure. The $11 million project will cover the entire upper deck of the parking garage and should provide sufficient power for the Blaisdell’s daytime operations and generate power to support evening events.
