Man charged with abusing 4 kittens in Santa Ana

A 29-year-old man was charged with animal cruelty on Friday after allegedly carrying four kittens in a plastic bag in Santa Ana.

Antonio Salgado was charged with four counts of animal cruelty. Police received a call from a man carrying four kittens in a plastic bag, so they tracked him down and were able to retrieve the family’s pets, which survived, police said.

Salgado was ordered held on $15,000 bail at his arraignment Friday at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana. He has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court July 29 for a preliminary hearing.
