Regional Skill Development Camp for U19 Cricketers to Start on August 4

LAHORE – The PCB has announced nationwide Regional Skills Development Camps for U19 male cricketers that will commence from August 4. All 18 teams from 16 regions will have their own camps with 20 players participating each. The 20 players from each regional team will be selected from the best performers from the previous season’s U19 national tournaments as well as the best performers from this year’s district cricket tournament. The four-week-long camps will involve rigorous work on skills, game awareness and technical aspects of the game while introducing a standardized fitness culture at this level. In this regard, a workshop of regional coaches was held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Friday under the guidance of Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan.

The coaches were briefed extensively on the philosophy of the men’s white-ball and red-ball head coaches, Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie respectively. At the regional U19 level, the coaches will work to nurture a diverse and highly professional crop of future cricketers.

Director – High Performance Nadeem Khan said: “In today’s workshop before the start of the regional U19 skills camps, we have tasked the coaches to work on technical aspects, tactical skills, fitness and fielding of the U19 players as per the philosophy of Jason and Gary. “It is pertinent to invest in this age group of players so that they become highly competitive players in the future as per the directive of the PCB top management.”
