Police crack down on parking in historic village

Police are cracking down on parking in the historic village of Grappenhall after ongoing problems with motorists parking on pavements.

As officers patrolled along Church Lane in Grappenhall, they discovered a number of cars parked there, unnecessarily blocking the footpaths.

Local officials say Church Lane is clearly marked with parking restrictions and there are plenty of reminder signs along the road. Not understanding a traffic sign is no defense. If this is the case, they advise drivers to review the rules of the road.
A number of fines have been issued and officers will continue to patrol the location in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Warrington Borough Council has announced that major roadworks in the area will begin next month, with roads closed for up to four weeks from 5 August.
