Remittances from Jordanian expats in Qatar reach 0 million in 6 months | Business

Ammon News – The value of remittances from Jordanian workers in Qatar amounted to approximately $250 million (JD177.2 million) in the first half of this year.

According to officials of money transfer companies in the Qatari market, these remittances increased by 6.8%, compared to approximately $233 million (JD 165.1 million) in the corresponding period of the year 2023.

In statements to “Petra” on Saturday, the officials said remittances from Jordanian workers in Qatar have shown “sustained” growth since the beginning of this year, which has continued in recent years.

According to official data, there are currently about 75,000 Jordanian workers working in Qatar, compared to about 60,000 a few years ago.

A few years ago, Qatar promised to create 20,000 jobs for Jordanian youth in the Qatari labor market. Half of them have only been recruited by the end of 2022. In the first phase, around 10,000 jobs will be created. The second phase is currently being completed.
