Two dead, seven missing in rain-induced disasters in China

Beijing, July 20 Two people have been killed and seven others are missing in rain-induced geological disasters in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China’s Sichuan province, local authorities said.

Two people have been found dead and the search for others is ongoing, local authorities said on Friday, Xinhua news agency reported.

Heavy rains since July 13 have caused landslides in the summer pastures of the livestock farmers, resulting in deaths and missing people.

According to residents, there is also no longer any contact with a vehicle containing five people.

Local authorities have mobilized 150 personnel to search for those reported missing. Relevant government departments have carried out evacuation work, as well as emergency repairs of roads, electricity, communications and water supplies.
