Two years ago he was in danger of dying, he was in a coma, but he fought and recovered. The story of Gino Rea, a British rider born in 1989, was also in the news in Italy and many fans were concerned about the rider’s health.

In the end, everything turned out well: after difficult days and weeks, Rea first returned home, nine months later on the bike and now, two years later, during the Suzuka 8 Hours, where he almost lost his life in a qualifying session.

We interviewed him during an event in the pit lane where Rea, together with other drivers, sat at a table and signed autographs: “I greet the Italian fans, I am half Italian, I love Italy and I miss it – Rea began -. As for me, things are getting better, it is great to be here. Every time I pass the scene of the accident I can’t help but look at the wall. It is a demon and a burden that I have been carrying on my shoulders for two years. But being here is a great satisfaction. I am not 100%, but I think I am 90-95%”.

“If I had to describe the Suzuka 8 Hours in one word? Awesome!” concluded Rea.
