Sarees worth Rs 8 lakhs stolen from Jubilee Hills Swadesh store

Hyderabad: Sarees worth nearly Rs 8 lakhs were reported stolen from Swadesh Store in Jubilee Hills on Friday. Praveen, a 34-year-old department manager of the store, filed a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police station.

Praveen reported that three women and one transgender person entered the saree section of Swadesh Store. The store staff helped the group and showed them different sarees on request. While two members of the group diverted the attention of the staff, the other two took sarees from the counter without anyone noticing.

After about 15 minutes, the group left the store. When the staff checked the inventory, they found that four sarees were missing. CCTV footage confirmed that the group had taken the sarees, worth Rs 7,96,969.

Jubilee Hills police have registered a case under sections 318(4) and 305(a) of the BNS Act. Investigation is underway to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the theft.
