“24/7 Day”: Celebrate Charleston’s Emergency Services

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – On Wednesday, July 24 (or “24/7 Day”), first responders in Charleston can visit a number of grocery store chains and receive everything from a free cup of coffee, soda or frozen drink to brand name merchandise and Gatorade as a thank you for their 24/7 work.

The convenience store industry is uniting for the sixth annual 24/7 Day, hosted by the NACS Foundation. This year’s theme is “Here for Heroes, Here for You.”

All first responders and emergency responders need to do is show up at these locations in uniform or with a badge to pick up their free items.

The following stores in the region are participating in the event this year:

  • Racetrac: RaceTrac offers all emergency responders in uniform or with a valid ID a free cup of coffee or soft drink, regardless of size.
  • Enmarket: In addition to proceeds from our annual charity golf tournament, we also offer a free soft drink or coffee each day to on-duty/uniformed police officers, firefighters and first responders when they visit an Enmarket location.
  • Scotchman: Free soft drinks or coffee in any quantity for police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel with a valid badge or ID.
  • Young’s: Free soft drink or coffee of any size for police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel with a valid badge or ID.

Thank you to the first responders, police, firefighters, EMTs, doctors, nurses, caregivers, medical staff, 911 professionals and Red Cross volunteers for your tireless efforts to ensure that people are not alone in emergencies.
