The Ghanaian Paralympic team fled after arriving in Norway to take part in the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon in Oslo.

The bizarre incident was reported in a letter signed by National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah, describing how the team fled after accusations of impersonation.

The letter stated that the 11-member team was expected to participate in the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon on April 27, 2024.

The team was due to arrive in Norway on 25 April 2024, but had not registered for the competition and was therefore unable to attend the event two days after arrival.

Nana Antwi, a member of the team, was later arrested by Norwegian security services while en route from Norway to Sweden.

In addition, the team’s coach, George Gyamfi Gyasi, reportedly collapsed and died at Oslo University Hospital (ULEVAL) on April 28, 2024. No further details about his death have been released.

The remaining 9 members of the team are on the run. The Norwegian embassy in Accra has notified the Western diplomatic missions in Accra and the European Border and Coast Guard to repatriate and arrest them if they are caught.
