Kakching 2nd Division Football LeagueUCC beats KFC 2-1 to take top spot, WALYDA wins 7-0

IMPHAL, July 20: Uyok Chingya Club (UCC), Kakching temporarily consolidated their lead in Kakching Second Division Football League Tournament Group B by ending their group campaign with a 2-1 victory over Kakching Football Club (KFC) for their third win.
The day also saw Wabagai Awang Leikai Youth Development Association (WALYDA), Wabagai meanwhile cruise to a 7-0 victory over Ideal Youth Association (IYA), Kakching to extend their unbeaten run to three games including two wins and remain in the race for group pole position with a game to go. Notably, group winners and runners-up qualify for the knockout stage of the 9-team tournament.
In the 7th match of Group A of the tournament held this afternoon, KFC, who had won once in their last two games, had the best start and took a 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to N Druba, who converted a good chance in the 15th minute.
However, UCC came out with more determination after the restart and equalised in the 46th minute through Ksh Renedy. With the equaliser open to both sides, they kept trying to take the lead and when the match looked set to end in a 1-1 draw, N Vero grabbed the winning goal with a last-ditch effort in injury time (90+3′) and ended KFC’s hopes of taking a point from the match.
Meanwhile, in the one-sided Group A 8 match, M Bishan scored three times (7′, 41′, 56′) for WALYDA while his teammates A Nailing (8′), M Dayananda (30′) and H Salaingamba (46′) contributed a goal each. The other goal came in the 36th minute in the form of an own goal by S Tomba of IYA.
SRDC, Kakching will play IYA in their final Group A match on July 22 from 1:00 PM, after which KFC will play their final league match against WALYDA from 3:00 PM.
