Toronto freeway crash: 5 people taken to hospital

Five people are in hospital after a vehicle collided with a truck on Highway 400 Saturday morning.

The collision occurred just after 7:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway, near Highway 401.

According to the Toronto Fire Department (TFS), four people were trapped in the vehicle and were freed by two firefighters.

A total of five people were taken to hospital, TFS said. Toronto police said the individuals suffered serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
