5 history buffs arrested in Bhiwandi for burglary, mobile phone theft; goods worth ₹9 Lakh recovered

Thane: In separate cases of burglary and mobile phone theft, the Bhiwandi crime branch has arrested five history-makers. While the duo arrested for burglary is involved in eight similar offences, the trio has been named in two cases of phone theft. Five motorcycles and 10 phones worth Rs 9 lakh have been recovered from their possession. The crime branch (Zone 2) has formed a special unit to tackle cases of mobile theft or burglary in Bhiwandi city.

A case of burglary was filed at Kongaon police station. During the investigation, the police scanned footage from 40 CCTVs and finally got the names of the suspects with the help of technical and human intelligence.

While Subham Kharatmol, 22, a resident of Dombivli, and Kismat Ali, 33, from Kurla were arrested on July 15, their third accomplice is still at large. They were arrested on July 15. The police have seized five motorcycles worth Rs 6.94 lakh from them. A total of eight cases have been registered against them in Thane and Mumbai Commissionerates.

In the case of phone thefts, the crime branch received a tip-off that two men would be selling devices near the ST bus stand in Bhiwandi. A trap was laid and Mohmmad Shaikh, 22, a resident of Bhiwandi, Monu Gupta of Ulhasnagar and Sabir Sayyed, 21, of Bhiwandi were nabbed on July 17. They revealed that they had broken into a phone shop in Bhiwandi. Two cases were registered against them and ten phones worth Rs2.3 lakh were seized from them.
