Murdaugh Appeal, ‘Mica’s Law’, Attempted Murder – Weekly Review 07-20-2024

It was an unprecedented week in American politics, as the attempted assassination of the former US president Donald Trump and the ongoing soft coup against the incumbent Joe Biden threatened to completely disrupt one of the most crucial elections in American history.

Where is the 2024 race going?

In a very special, topical news edition of the Weekly overview – filmed on location in the South Carolina Lowcountry – special guest host Lauren Taylor and I discussed what could happen if Biden were to step down as the Democratic nominee.

However, Lauren and I started our conversation by focusing on the big news in the ‘Murdaugh murders‘crime and corruption saga – Alex Murdaugh‘s request that his motion for a new trial be heard by the state Supreme Court.

Does the convicted murderer have a chance at a new trial? Lauren’s analysis of this case is nothing short of prophetic, so you won’t want to miss her answer to that question…

Lauren and I also had an in-depth conversation about the Mica Molenaar case – specifically efforts to reform domestic violence laws in the Palmetto State to include more elements of “coercive control.”

Later in the show I was joined by Dylan Nolan – who has also been nothing short of prophetic in his assessment of the 2024 presidential election cycle. Dylan I have previously covered the disastrous failure of the U.S. Secret Service in Butler, Pennsylvania, during And after the attempt on Trump’s life last weekend – and the state of the campaign after a week full of news, including Trump’s choice of JD Vance as his vice presidential nominee and the dropping of several federal charges against the former president.

As I told Dylan, ‘Some years there’s no news – other weeks, years “So much news is being made.”
