Plane crash at Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Ohio kills three

Three people, the pilot and two passengers, were killed Friday in a plane crash in Ohio, authorities said.

At around 6:45 p.m. ET, a Beechcraft BE-60 aircraft made an emergency landing at the end of Runway 14 at Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna, Ohio, after the pilot reported a loss of engine power, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said.

The patrol’s Warren Dispatch Center received a call at 7:09 p.m. ET and officers arrived on scene shortly afterward to find the plane had crashed near one of the runways, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Plane crash under investigation

The NTSB has launched an investigation into the plane crash.

“Two NTSB investigators are en route to the accident scene today,” Peter Knudson, NTSB media relations, told USA TODAY. “They will document the plane’s wreckage, which will then be moved to a secure facility for further evaluation.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the agency will work with the NTSB to investigate the accident. The NTSB will lead the investigation.
