New Los Angeles Dodgers rumor claims specific All-Star is No. 1 on trade deadline wish list

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been linked to several stars ahead of the July 30 MLB trade deadline. But there’s one player at the top of their trade list.

The Dodgers enter the second half with a commanding seven-game lead in the National League West. And one of the best records in all of baseball. But they’re in an arms race with the league-leading Phillies to build the most formidable roster for the playoffs.

As we approach this month’s trade deadline, the team is reportedly one of the most active, with several big names linked to being available, including Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal and White Sox slugger Luis Robert Jr. However, it appears one of Robert Jr.’s teammates is the player LA is most interested in acquiring.

“Chicago White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet is considered the Dodgers’ best pitcher, regardless of whether he’s a starter or a reliever the rest of the season (Crochet, a converted starter, has already thrown more than 100 innings after throwing no more than 65 in a season dating back to his time with Tennessee),” ESPN Los Angeles Dodgers reporter Alden Gonzalez wrote Saturday.

“He could at least be a key multi-inning member of the Dodgers’ bullpen, but the White Sox will still demand compensation based on his value as a starter.”

Crochet is the top prize on this year’s trade market. Especially since Detroit doesn’t expect a Skubal trade to be seriously considered. Rival clubs like the Yankees, Orioles and Padres are all speculated as contenders for the 2024 All-Star.

Because he is the best pitcher available, the asking price will likely be quite high, according to the White Sox.
