Ensign Peak wildfire threatens radio towers

Firefighters say a new wildfire on Ensign Peak is prompting evacuations and threatening radio towers. A helicopter is seen scooping water from Memory Grove to help extinguish the flames.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department is asking people to stay away from the area and is advising the voluntary evacuation of homes on East Capital and Sandhurst Drive, according to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The cause is unknown and multiple aircraft and agencies are on scene, Utah Fire Info reported on X. It first reported before 5 p.m. and later noted it has been named the “Sandhurst Fire.”
