Rory Feek remarries 8 years after the death of his wife Joey

Rory Feek said “yes” again – eight years after the death of his previous wife Joey.

The country singer announced on his blog that he married Rebecca, his 10-year-old daughter’s teacher at the Indiana school, on July 14.

The couple married “under a beautiful wood-frame pavilion” in Greycliff, Montana, surrounded by family and friends, where he surprised her with a custom wedding song he wrote.

The 59-year-old wrote that the love story between him and Rebecca began when his daughter said it was actually her idea.

“Rebecca and I had made a commitment to be together. To choose each other and see where it would lead. And while we knew marriage was a possibility, it wasn’t something either of us could seriously talk about,” he explained.

“Especially because Indiana had only ever seen Rebecca as ‘Miss Rebecca,’ her schoolteacher and our friend. And even though she had become so much more than that to me, I was very cautious about letting Indy ‘figure it out’ for herself. And honestly, I wasn’t sure she ever would be able or willing to do that.”

“Her love for her mom is so great and so big in her life. Neither Rebecca nor I wanted to hurt her in any way,” Rory wrote.

“And so we just waited and watched to see if it would ever occur to Indiana that Rebecca could be more than just a friend to her father and to her.”

It wasn’t until late March, when Rebecca visited the father and daughter at their farm for their daily morning routine, that she revealed that Indiana had proposed to her father.

“I asked Indy, and she told me she said, ‘Mrs. Rebecca, I think you should marry Daddy…’” he wrote.

“And then Indy looked at me and said ‘and I told Miss Rebecca that my mommy’s been gone for a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she can be my new mommy…’”

Joey Feek passed away in March 2016 after a two-year battle with cervical and colon cancer.

Rory also has two daughters, Heidi and Hopie, whom he had from a previous relationship.
