Contaminated water causes chaos in Udaipur, 3 people including 2 children die, panic breaks out

Udaipur. Contaminated water has caused chaos in Udaipur district of Rajasthan. Around three dozen people have fallen ill after drinking contaminated water in Popalti village of Udaipur. Two children and an elderly person have died. Nine victims have been admitted to the local hospital. The condition of one of the children is still critical. He has been admitted to MB Hospital in Udaipur. 35 villagers have fallen ill one after another after drinking contaminated water in the village. This information has created panic in the health department. Medical workers reached Popalti village and collected samples of contaminated water there.

Udaipur CMHO Dr Shankar Bamaniya said villagers in Popalti village on Saturday complained of vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain after drinking contaminated water. As the health of one after another villager started deteriorating, they rushed to the local hospital. A total of 35 villagers fell ill after drinking contaminated water. Among them, two children and an elderly person have died. The victims are being treated at the local hospital.

CMHO and medical personnel reached the village
A child is in a serious condition and has been admitted to MB Hospital in Udaipur. Bamaniya said that when he heard about the deaths and illnesses due to contaminated water, he went to the spot with the medical staff. Initial investigation has revealed that the villagers have been drinking water from the bowl-shaped water source near Popalti village for years. Probably, the same water got contaminated for some reason and that is why this incident happened.

The reasons will only be made known after the investigation report is available
Samples of contaminated water have been taken. These have been sent to the lab for examination. The reasons will be announced only after the examination report is received. The district collector and other top officials have been informed about the entire incident. There is mourning in Popalti village over the death of three people from the same village. The villagers are busy consoling the families of the deceased.
