Luis Severino and three relievers combined on four hits to hold the Miami Marlins to a 1-0 victory on Saturday.

Severino (7-3) worked the first six innings, allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out seven. Jose Butto and Dedniel Nunez handled the ninth for Edwin Diaz, who finished 1-2-3 for his 11th save in 16 starts.

Roddery Munoz (1-5) took the loss despite pitching well through five innings, surrendering three hits and one run, walking three and striking out five. He still fell 30 games below .500 at 34-64.

The game’s lone run came in the fourth. Pete Alonso doubled off the left-field wall with one out, Mark Vientos was hit by a pitch, and DJ Stewart ran to load the bases. The run scored on Francisco Alvarez’s grounder to shortstop Xavier Edwards, who made a diving stop and got the out at second base.

New York’s Jose Iglesias and Miami’s Jesus Sanchez were the only players on either team with two hits. The teams combined for just 10 hits, and neither excelled at situational hitting. Both teams went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 men each.

Severino didn’t yield much solid contact in his outing, though he had to work through three jams. In the first inning, Miami put two on with two outs after Josh Bell walked and Jake Burger singled, but Sanchez grounded out.

Alonso’s errant throw on a potential double play ball in the fourth gave the Marlins two with one out. However, a fielder’s choice grounder by Nick Gordon and Severino’s strikeout of Edwards left men stranded on the corners.

In the sixth, Severino got himself into trouble by hitting Burger with one out and walking Lopez with two outs. But he ended his outing in style by getting Gordon to hit a 97 mph fastball for strike three.
