3 dead in landslide on Kedarnath trek route

Rudraprayag: Three people were killed and others injured after a landslide on the Kedarnath Dham trekking route in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district on Sunday, officials said.

Nandan Singh Rajwar, disaster management officer of Rudraprayag district, said the accident occurred around 7.30 am near Chirbasa area on the Gaurikund-Kedarnath trekking route when debris and heavy stones started falling from the hillock.

The emergency and rescue team immediately arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the incident, he said.

So far, three bodies have been recovered from the rubble. One person has been evacuated with injuries, Rajwar said.
