Sonny Bill Williams Shares Baby Joy After Wife Alana’s Secret Pregnancy

Rugby league and union legend Sonny Bill Williams and his wife Alana have announced the birth of their fifth child.

The boy, named Mohammed, was born on Wednesday after a “long nine months” in which the pregnancy was kept secret.

“10 pounds, healthy boy and healthy mom,” Williams said on Instagram.

Williams shared the news in a video that begins with the moment their four eldest children learned of the impending expansion.

“Yes, some would say we are susceptible to punishment,” he joked afterwards.

The parents said they did not know the gender before the birth, but that Williams could choose the name if the baby was a boy.

The devout Muslim was later photographed holding the newborn and celebrating its arrival, before sharing images of the other children reuniting as a family of seven for the first time.

“May Allah nurture and bless the young Muhammad so that he may grow up to be a strong, righteous man,” Williams said.

Williams recently returned from a trip to Mecca.

He retired from rugby after a brief return to the NRL with the Sydney Roosters in 2020.

Williams returned to the boxing ring in the following two years, but in his final fight he was defeated by New Zealand MMA great Mark Hunt.

Since then he has become a leading rugby commentator.
