LAFC (14-5-5) took a 1-0 lead after just 16 minutes when a foul on Seattle defender Nouhou Tolo, which was called after a video review, led to a penalty kick by Bouanga.

Mateusz Bogusz gave LAFC a two-goal lead when he scored without an assist from a set piece in the 26th minute for his 13th goal of the season.

Bouanga found the net for the 16th time this season, making it 3-0 in the 74th minute. Kei Kamara notched his third assist on the goal and defender Sergi Palencia collected his fourth.

Hugo Lloris saved four shots on goal for LAFC. It was Lloris’ ninth clean sheet of the season, moving him level with Charlotte FC’s Kristijan Kahlina for the league lead.

Stefan Frei, who recorded his 112th career shutout to tie Kevin Hartman for second all-time, had just one save for the Sounders (10-8-7) in their second home loss of the season.

LAFC defeated the Sounders 1-0 in a Western Conference semifinal last season on a first-half goal from Bouanga for Seattle’s first victory since its debut season in 2018. Seattle failed to score in three games with LAFC last season. LAFC recorded a 2-1 home win over the Sounders in the season opener.

Seattle entered the match with just one loss in its last 13 games in all competitions. The Sounders entered the night having conceded just 26 goals, the best in the Western Conference and third in the league.

LAFC moves to 12-0-1 this season thanks to a goal from Bouanga.

The two clubs will also face each other in the US Open Cup semi-finals on August 27 in Seattle at the Starfire Sports Complex.

The league will take a month-long break to play for the Leagues Cup. LAFC will travel to play Vancouver Whitecaps when play resumes on August 24. The Sounders will travel to face Minnesota United on August 24.
