Malena Galletto, 17, receives acceptance letters from all 8 Ivy League schools

Malena Galletto, 17, has received acceptance letters from all eight Ivy League schools. Not only that, the young sensation from Washington Heights has also received positive results from the other 20 colleges and universities she applied to, the NY Post reported.

“When I was about to open an (admission) letter, I was preparing myself for it to be the first rejection letter. And then I would open them and it would always say, ‘Congratulations on your acceptance!’” Ms. Galletto was quoted as saying.

Ms. Galletto, who had a 97% GPA, said she was first accepted by the University at Albany.

She added: “As long as I can remember, school has always been my number one priority. Even in elementary school, I always wanted to be at the top of my class,” she said, crediting her parents, who both teach tango and immigrated to Washington Heights from their native Argentina in 2000, for instilling in her that “education is the most important thing.”

Reflecting on the moment she received the letter from Harvard University, Ms. Galletto said, “The first one I opened was Cornell (University), and when that was a ‘Yes,’ it was life-changing… But when I opened Harvard (University), I screamed. Deep down, it was always Harvard for me.”

Ms. Galletto’s mother, Karina Romero, also expressed her excitement about her daughter’s achievements. “I am so incredibly proud. She always studies and tries her best, and I am so happy that she got what she worked so hard for,” she said.

Ms. Galletto also got a shout-out from Nicole Brownstein, spokeswoman for the city Department of Education. According to Ms. Brownstein, the result is a “testament to her (Malena Galletto) hard work and dedication.”
