Crowds react to an exciting match during a Street Fighter 6 match.

Day 2 of the Evolution tournament saw a sideline for showcase panels and a focus on the competition getting underway. With them firmly out of the early pools, the remaining rounds of each individual game became increasingly tough with comebacks, victories and heartbreak along the way.

The finals of several competitions were held in the open arena. King of Fighters XV the day started with Xiaohai taking first place. Mortal Kombat-1 followed by the multiple champion Sonicfox who won it all after an exciting match against their opponent Nicolas. Under Night In-Birth II (Sys:Celes) followed when Senaru managed to emerge victorious with a win against Mo.Sin in the final round. The evening concluded with a throwback to the early days of Evo, with a Street Fighter II: 3rd Battle tournament (played on CRTs) in which MOV took the crown.

The competitive spirit was truly heating up throughout the venue, with spontaneous crowds forming and cheers heard throughout the day. Returning champions like JDCR, Daigo Umehara, Angrybird, Mena RD and many more turned heads as they battled through their brackets, with many ending in heartbreaking defeat. In addition to the tournament action, attendees entered raffles, participated in a cosplay contest, cheered wildly for every Chipotle ad that was shown between matches and checked out the vendor area.

During the first finals, the action was halted to present Justin Wong and Daigo Umehara with the first-ever Evo Impact Awards, in recognition of their work within the fighting game community over the years. It was also announced that Evo would host a fighting game awards event in 2025.

The last day is upon us with the best 6 participants for Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Guilty Gear -Strive- ready to battle for the coveted first place in Evo.
