Uttarakhand: 3 dead, 8 injured in landslide on Kedarnath Trekking Route | India News

New Delhi: The shocking incident took place as three people were killed and eight injured in a landslide that took place near Chidwasa area of ​​Rudraprayad district in Uttarakhand on Sunday. The incident took place this morning on the route of Kedarnath Yatra when pilgrims were walking from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Dham.

Following the incident, the district control room in Rudraprayag informed the State Disaster Response Force team that a number of people were trapped under the debris following the landslide in that region on the Kedarnath Yatra route.

After receiving the information, the SDRF team arrived at the scene equipped with necessary rescue equipment and started the rescue operation.

SDRF evacuated eight injured and took them to hospital. Three people succumbed to their injuries on the spot and SDRF handed over their bodies to the district police.


Reacting to the incident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took to microblogging site X to express his grief and condolences to the family of the deceased.

“The news that some pilgrims have been injured due to debris and heavy stones falling from the hillock on the Kedarnath Yatra route is very sad. Relief and rescue work is underway at the accident site and I am in constant touch with the authorities in this regard. I have given instructions to provide better treatment to those injured in the accident immediately. May God grant the departed souls a place at His feet and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense grief,” Dhami said.
