5 Things You Need to Know About Mini Crayfish Season

The lobster mini season is the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday in July each year, so July 24-25 in 2024, July 23-24 in 2025, July 22-23 in 2026, and so on. Here are five things to know:

  • Harvest at state level:The Florida Keys are known for their spiny lobsters, but they can also be caught as far north as Port Canaveral and west as St. Petersburg.

  • Requirements: You will need a saltwater fishing license ($17) and a lobster stamp ($5).

  • Daily baggage limit: 12 per person, but only 6 in the Florida Keys

  • Maximum size: The shield must be longer than 3 inches and you must measure it while in the water

  • No eggs: You must release females carrying eggs
