Jharkhand CM offers Rs 2 crore aid to flood-hit Assam

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has offered Rs 2 crore as relief to the flood-hit people of the northeastern state.

Sarma thanked Soren and the people of Jharkhand for the gesture.

“Dear Chief Minister of Jharkhand, @HemantSorenJMM Ji has generously donated Rs 2 crore to Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help the flood affected people,” Sarma said on X.

“On behalf of the people of Assam, I would like to express my deep appreciation for the generosity of the kind-hearted people of Jharkhand and the honourable Prime Minister,” he added.

So far, at least 113 people have died in the state from floods, landslides, lightning strikes and storms.

More than 1.30 lakh people in 10 districts remain affected.
