What’s the latest news on the Chicago Bears?

The Bears officially kicked off training camp with their first practice on Saturday morning. While it was a light, build-up workout, there were a few notable storylines to come out of the workout. That included rookie quarterback Caleb Williams catching a pass… from himself, along with updates on the offensive line and injuries.

Takeaways from the first practice at the Bears’ training camp

As expected, it was a light, walkthrough-style workout as players hit the practice field for the first time since their summer break. Things are expected to pick up a lot more pace in the coming days (before the pads arrive on July 27). But that doesn’t mean there weren’t some early storylines on Day 1, including early heroics from rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, moves by the offensive line and injury updates.

Gervon Dexter underwent a physical transformation this offseason, getting leaner and faster to maximize his impact on the line. It was something that had been discussed during spring training, but it was clearly evident during conditioning tests at camp. Just ask defensive end Montez Sweat.

Matt Eberflus shares injury updates on Braxton Jones and TJ Edwards

Bears coach Matt Eberflus said left tackle Braxton Jones and linebacker TJ Edwards, who both practiced Saturday, will be limited to the start of training camp. Eberflus said “it’s nothing serious” and that both are “almost” back to full speed, as they dealt with injuries from OTAs and minicamp.
