Digby RCMP investigating fatal crash

The Digby RCMP are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Highway 217 in Centreville, Digby County.

On July 20 at approximately 2:00 a.m., Digby RCMP, Fire Department and EHS responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 217. Initial investigation revealed that a Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Highway 217 when it left the road and entered a ditch.

The driver and sole occupant of the car were pronounced dead at the scene. Digby RCMP are working with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service to positively identify the driver.

An RCMP collision reconstruction specialist was called to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Highway 217 was closed for several hours, but has now reopened.
