Fire trucks called to fire at large commercial gym

FIRE APPLIANCES from across the Warrington area were called to the scene early today (Sunday) after an automatic fire alarm was activated at the Athelis gymnasium in Apollo Park, Warrington.

Four fire engines and an aerial platform from Warrington, Lymm, Birchwood, Penketh and Stockton Heath were sent to the scene at 1.13am.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building – a large commercial gym – and found a fire in a laundry room.
A fire hose was used to fight the fire, but it was quickly extinguished.
Further checks were carried out to ensure the fire had not spread and the building was ventilated.
