Portuguese Nuno Borges, the No 7 seed, beat Spanish wildcard Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-2 to win the Nordea Open title at the Båstads tennis stadium in Bastad on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier in the tournament, Borges, ranked No 51, defeated Italian lucky loser Andrea Pellegrino (6-2, 7-6 (3)), Henrique Rocha (1-6, 6-4, 6-0), Kazakh qualifier Timofey Skatov (6-4, 6-3) and Argentinian Thiago Agustin Tirante (6-3, 6-4).

Nadal, ranked No 261, beat Swede wildcard Leo Borg (6-3, 6-4), No 5 seed Cameron Norrie (6-4, 6-4), Argentinian Mariano Navone, the No 4 seed (6-7 (2 ), 7-5, 7-5) and Croat qualifier Duje Ajdukovic (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Swedish Open.
