Waste processing days

Milpitas residents can drop off unwanted items for free in the Thomas Russell Middle School parking lot on August 3. An appointment is required to participate, as well as proof of residency and an ID.

Other neighborhood cleanup events are scheduled for Sept. 14 at Cardoza Park and Oct. 5 at the Milpitas Community Center. Each household is allowed a maximum of one pickup truck load (no more than 3 cubic yards of material) and may participate in only one event per year.

Visit https://www.milpitas.gov/511/Neighborhood-Clean-UpEvents for more information and to schedule an appointment.

VTA service plan

The Valley Transportation Authority has developed a draft 2025 Transit Service Plan for community review, focusing on changes to bus frequency, hours of operation and routes.

The plan includes frequency improvements, adjustments to school services, extending weekend morning hours, combining bus routes and maintaining service for Caltrain connections.

Brawl Stars Tournament

The Milpitas Library will host a Brawl Stars tournament in the program room on August 2 at 12 p.m. Players ages 12-18 are invited to compete for prizes in a bracket-style tournament; space is limited.

Free snacks will also be provided. Participants must bring their own charged phone. They play in the “Friendly Duels” game mode and are allowed to ban one fighter each.

Board game day

The next Board Game Day at the Milpitas Library is scheduled for August 3 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., hosted by the Fremont Board Gamers. Players 18 and older can bring their favorite games or come to the auditorium to learn a few new ones.
