As we now prepare for the next part of Cobra Kai season 6, there is definitely a lot of intriguing stuff coming up. The Sekai Taikai will serve as the central setting, and a large part of the story could very well stem from what happened when Tory defected from Miyagi-Do to Cobra Kai.

Obviously, there are some specific reasons why this happened, and going forward, you’ll see the character team up with John Kreese. At the same time, it feels like she’ll also get another mentor, namely Kim Da-Eun.

Want to know more about what this will look like? Here’s what Alicia Hannah-Kim (who plays the sensei) had to say in an interview with Variety:

Tory coming back to Cobra Kai feels tumultuous for the entire cast. All of the Miyagi-Do kids, and especially Kim Da-Eun, have a really complicated relationship. It’s contentious, but it’s also almost a mentor-mentee relationship, because I think Kim Da-Eun sees all that potential and that similarity. She sees herself in Tory and knows exactly how to use those emotions to win and mold her into a kind of mini version of her.

What can I say that isn’t spoilery? We get to explore their relationship in new ways this season, and that was really satisfying for me as an actor.

By the end of the season, we obviously hope that Tory will return to Miyagi-Do, but it may take a lot of work on their part to make that happen. In the meantime, it’s important for a story like this to have both heroes and villains. Otherwise, where is the sense of competition?
