Qasef, Shahed, Khatif Drones Bolster Houthi Arsenal | ‘Upgraded’ Iranian Samad-3 Hit Tel Aviv

Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who claimed a deadly attack far from their border in Israel, have built up a sizeable drone arsenal. One person was killed and several others wounded in a July 19 drone attack on Tel Aviv. An Israeli military official said a “very large” drone was detected but no immediate alarm was raised due to “human error.” In that attack, a large, explosives-laden drone named the “Jaffa” struck a building 100 meters (330 feet) from the U.S. consulate in central Tel Aviv. The attack marked a “new phase” in their operations against Israel, the Houthis said, saying they have been steadily developing their drone capabilities since 2014. The Houthis said the attack was carried out by the Jaffa, a mysterious new ultra-long-range aircraft-like drone with radar-evading capabilities. Houthis military spokesman Yahya Saree said the drone was capable of evading air defense systems and radar detection.
