Fire in Sandhurst, Utah, prompts evacuation orders

SALT LAKE CITY (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – Ensign Peak in Utah caught fire Saturday afternoon, prompting evacuations of nearby residents.

The forest fire was estimated to have grown to an area of ​​4 hectares by Saturday.

According to the Salt Lake City Fire Department, the evacuation order is in effect for all homes north of Dorchester, Sandhurst Drive and Twickenham Drive.

There is also a voluntary evacuation for those living north of Ensign Vista, past East Capitol to North Cove.

Salt Lake City police said multiple agencies were on scene and operating under one command to protect lives and property.

Several air units are on scene and more units are expected to drop water on the fire.

Authorities are advising people to avoid the area for safety reasons.
