Elections 2024 live updates: Democrats wrestle over whether Biden should top ticket

Democrats are still wrestling with whether President Biden should remain at the top of their presidential ticket. During talk show appearances Sunday, Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and James E. Clyburn offered their continued support for Biden. Clyburn, a close Biden ally, said he will support Biden as long as he wants to be the nominee. Sen. Joe Manchin III (W.Va.), who switched his registration from a Democrat to an independent in May, said it is time for Biden to “pass the torch.” More than 35 Democrats in Congress have called for Biden to step aside, according to a Washington Post count.
