The Detroit Lions had high expectations for the first time in a long time when the 2023 NFL season began. That may have been the case when Hall of Famer Barry Sanders was at his best with the team.

Even when Sanders was still playing, the hype didn’t last as long as it had since head coach Dan Campbell turned the tide for the struggling franchise with veteran quarterback Jared Goff leading the way.

Fortunately for the Lions, Detroit was able to live up to and exceed expectations. Goff and his team reached the NFC Championship Game, but fell just short of a trip to the Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers played a great second half to pull out the win and move on.

With the Lions now one win away from reaching the Super Bowl, Detroit will once again be a team with high expectations for next season. Many are predicting that this team can go on and win it all, or at the very least reach the big game in February.

On Sunday, the Lions announced a number of roster moves as training camp for the 2024 season gets underway. Three players were placed on the PUP list and one was placed on the NFI list, according to the team’s Twitter account.

“DB Brian Branch, OLB Marcus Davenport and DL DJ Reader placed on Active/PUP. OL Giovanni Manu placed on Active/NFI,” the Lions announced.

At this point, there is no cause for concern for the Lions going into training camp without these players ready to play, but Campbell and his team will be keeping a close eye on this from now on.

If the Lions enter the 2024 NFL season healthy and motivated, it could be another strong year for Detroit.
