Baseball: Glenwood-Lowry, Parkers Prairie reach Division II Senior Legion West Central Sub-State semifinals – Alexandria Echo Press

The Glenwood-Lowry Legion 18U and Parkers Prairie Post 219 baseball teams advanced to the Division II Senior Legion West Central Sub-State semifinals with convincing victories on Saturday.

Parkers Prairie defeated Ashby 9-1 to win the northwest pod, while Glenwood-Lowry defeated Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 7-2 to win the northeast pod.

At Glenwood-Lowry, Alex Panitzke threw a gem of a game, striking out 11 batters in six innings and allowing just one hit.

Panitzke was also the team’s best with two hits, a double and a triple.

Mason Boesl had a strong outing in Parkers Prairie’s win, throwing a complete game and striking out eight batters.

Nolan Steidl had three hits, while Shane Hanson stole three bases and Joe Johnson hit a home run.

Glenwood-Lowry and Parkers Prairie will play a best-of-three series starting Monday at 6 p.m. in Glenwood. Game two is Thursday at 4 p.m. in Parkers Prairie, with game three if needed.

The winner of this series will play Montevideo or Granite Falls in the West Central Sub-State Final (best-of-three series) on July 27-28.
