Sunshine Coast Falcons thrash Hunters 66-8

Sunshine Coast Falcons defeated Hunters 66-8 in a realistic match yesterday at Sunshine Coast. This could be their last home game before their Sunshine Coast Stadium undergoes renovations.

Solo Wane’s 20th minute and a 46th minute try from Alex Max were not enough to help their team chase down their opponents. Falcons registered a total of 12 tries to prevent the Paul Aiton-coached PNG Hunters from climbing the ladder.

The home side took flight in the first half with a 32-4 lead that blew the Hunters away at halftime. Falcons came back even stronger as they dismantled Hunters defense and doubled their lead in the second half.

The tries came from Luke Polselli who scored a Hettrick, Casius Faatili and Scott Galeano each scored a double, while Cody Hunter, Louise Geraghty, Kyle Paterson, Taine Couper and Zacariah Miles each scored a try.

Goalscorer Cody Hunter was at his best with a penalty that opened the scoring for the match, making eight from twelve attempts.

It was a tough showdown for the boys from Papua New Guinea, who had won just two games in the past two weekends but lost their winning formula against the Falcons.

Hunters struggled to keep up with their defense, dashing their hopes of a win before this week’s off.

However, they did not achieve the desired result and will have to reassess themselves for the rest of the season to maintain their hopes of reaching the final.
