Islamabad Police Arrest Over 10,000 Suspects in 6 Months

ISLAMABAD – In a major bid to curb criminal activities in the federal capital, the Islamabad police have carried out effective operations in the past six months, resulting in the arrest of 10,177 suspects.

According to the data of the last six months, a copy of which is available on APP, stolen goods worth over a billion rupees were recovered from the suspects, including valuables, vehicles and motorcycles. The police also arrested 881 suspects belonging to 365 gangs involved in serious crimes like robbery and dacoity, in which stolen goods worth over Rs 41 crore were recovered.

In addition, a total of 1,187 drug dealers were arrested during the same period, with a significant amount of drugs seized, including 273 kg of hashish, 355 kg of heroin, 25 kg of ice and 7,659 litres of alcohol.

Police also cracked down on property crimes, arresting 2,380 suspects of theft, robbery, car and motorcycle theft and sabotage.

In addition, the Islamabad Police launched a crackdown on illegal weapons, arresting 1,110 suspects and seizing a large cache of weapons, including 54 rifles, 20 carbines, 912 pistols and 148 daggers. DIG (Operations) Islamabad Police, Syed Ali Raza, lauded the efforts of the police teams and stated that indiscriminate action was being taken against fugitives from justice and habitual criminals, resulting in the arrest of 3,217 persons.
