No. 2: Michael Critchley and Kevin Marino

Michael Critchley and Kevin MarinoCritchley and Marino are two of New Jersey’s most respected and effective attorneys.

Critchley is a partner at Critchley, Kinum & Luria. He brings decades of experience to the firm—including handling more than 100 cases in state and federal courts—which focuses its practice on complex white-collar litigation, securities litigation, complex business disputes and prosecuting civil cases on behalf of seriously injured individuals.

Marino is the founder of Marino, Tortorella & Boyle PC, a law firm focused on defending white-collar lawsuits and complex litigation.

Both lawyers and firms have a wide variety of high-profile clients and have won cases on behalf of these clients.

And now the two decorated attorneys find themselves on the same side of perhaps their most high-profile case yet – as they each represent one of the Norcross brothers (Critchley – George; Marino – Philip), who were recently indicted in a sweeping racketeering indictment announced by Attorney General Matthew Platkin.

“The charges are completely baseless and the statements Mr. Platkin made in support of them are blatantly false,” the two attorneys said in a joint statement in June. “Simply put, this is a political attack masquerading as a criminal case. We look forward to proving that there is no fact or law to support this outrageous prosecution.”

The case will be watched closely as a watershed moment in New Jersey politics. The indictment is a direct attack on Norcross’s influence in state politics. And while George Norcross has said he is scaling back his political activities, the infrastructure he has built remains formidable. For now.
