Mahindra Thar Roxx vs Thar 3-door. Check out the features

Mahindra is launching its next big product in the premium SUV space and it will sit alongside the Scorpio N as a rugged 5-door SUV. While it was earlier rumoured to be called the Thar Armada, it has now been dubbed the Thar Roxx.

The Roxx is the long awaited 5-door version, but it is also quite different from the regular Thar 3-door. First of all, it is not based on the 3-door Thar and it is not a 3-door Thar with extra doors.

In fact, it is closer to the Scorpio N than the Thar with a longer wheelbase. The suspension and components are also said to be closer to the Scorpio N and not the 3-door Thar including the suspension. In terms of design, the Thar Roxx has a different front fascia than the Thar 3-door with a new grille.

The Thar Roxx has a dual slot grille vs the 3-door Thar. The headlight setup is also new vs the 3-door Thar with LED lighting. The side profile brings much larger diamond cut alloy wheels on the Thar Roxx vs the simpler ones on the 3-door Thar. The other difference is in the length as the Roxx is much longer and has a longer wheelbase offering more room for the rear seat occupants along with more luggage space.

Talking about the interiors, the basic design of the Roxx will not be shared with the 3-door Thar as the Roxx gets dual 10.25-inch displays including a digital cluster plus many more features. We can expect an electric driver’s seat, 360-degree camera, ADAS, sunroof and more. These features were missing in the 3-door Thar.

One thing that would be shared with the 3-door Thar would be the engine line-up with the Thar Roxx having the same 1.5l diesel in RWD plus a 2.0l turbo petrol, 2.2l diesel. The petrol 2.0 and 2.2l get 4×4 plus a 6-speed automatic plus a 6-speed manual. Sure the Thar Roxx would be a fair bit more expensive than the 3-door but it would be a whole new proposition.
