Lahore (Pakistan), July 22: Nine people, including two women, have been arrested in connection with the honey-trapping, kidnapping and robbery case of renowned playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar, Pakistani daily Dawn reported.

According to local police, Qamar was abducted and subjected to horrific ordeals in Lahore.

The playwright was lured to a house by a woman named Amna, who reportedly invited him for talks about a drama project. Upon his arrival, he was forcibly abducted by armed assailants, leading to a series of traumatic events.

During his captivity, Qamar was reportedly tortured and taken to multiple unknown locations by the perpetrators. The ordeal culminated in the kidnappers demanding a significant ransom from him and his family. They also robbed him of his personal belongings, including his mobile phone, watch, and cash. In addition, they reportedly withdrew PRK 2,50,000 from his debit card.

In his statement to the Sundar police station, Qamar described the threats against his life and the physical violence he endured during the abduction. He said he was blindfolded and left in a secluded area by the attackers before they fled the scene, Dawn reported.

A case has been registered based on Qamar’s First Information Report (FIR), documenting the criminal acts committed against him. Authorities are actively seeking leads to arrest the perpetrators and ensure justice is done.
