Google Pixel 9 Pro XL key specs just leaked ahead of launch – what we know

We don’t have much longer to wait until the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is officially shown off, but a new leak has shown the phone in the flesh and revealed at least one interesting upgrade.

Photos shared by user Pourelle over on the XDA Forums show what appears to be a Pixel 9 Pro XL demo unit (complete with a disguised Google badge on the back), plus a look at some of the internal specs via a diagnostics page. This page reveals that this particular Pixel 9 Pro XL packs 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The current Pixel 8 Pro packs a respectable 12GB of RAM, the most offered on a Pixel to date. It also comes in a standard variant with 128GB of storage, and a more expensive version with 256GB. So while we can’t say for sure whether or not this leak shows a standard model of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the fact that it at least bumps up the RAM capacity of one version is good news.

RAM is a key component for managing a smartphone’s multitasking potential, so the more the better. We expect Google to frame this as an AI-focused upgrade, though, as these features tend to be RAM-hungry too. The benefits of extra storage are clear: more room for all your photos, files, and apps.

However, more storage could also mean a higher price for users. Especially if the standard storage is increased to 256GB. We’ve already heard rumors of this in Europe, where Pixel 9 prices could increase by €100 everywhere.
