3 Indians Who May Not Play an ODI Match for a Very Long Time

Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar attended a press conference on Monday. The duo gave a lot of insight into how the team was assembled for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. A few of their words gave a hint about the future of a few players. In that context, here is a list of three Indians who may not play an ODI match for a very long time.

1) Yashasvi Jaiswal

It is to be noted that Jaiswal, despite his excellence in T20Is and Tests, is yet to make his ODI debut. Until the Champions Trophy at least, Rohit and Shubman will remain at the top of the rankings.

The likes of B Sai Sudharsan and Ruturaj Gaikwad will also provide competition at the top of the order. Hence, it might be tough for Jaiswal to play in ODIs. Also, looking at the prospects of Gambhir and Agarkar, they seem to have clarity on format-based squads.

2) Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is one of the Indians who may not play an ODI match for a long time. The experiment of having SKY in ODIs did not work out well for Team India. It seems Gautam Gambhir has learnt from this trial.

After being appointed as T20I skipper, it seems that SKY will not be considered for ODIs. It is a good decision as his entire focus will be on T20I format and for ODIs some youngsters could be tried.

3) Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi is currently part of only the T20I format. Kuldeep Yadav leads the spin attack in ODIs. Axar Patel is the second option while Washington Sundar is the third for the Sri Lanka series. With Jaddu returning to ODIs later, Bishnoi may not get a chance in ODIs.

Also, Bishnoi’s quick leg-spin seems more suited to the T20I format. He has a very defensive style and this might not work in the ODI format.
