One Piece Season 2 Will Not Feature Jamie Lee Curtis

One Piece Season 2 Will Not Feature Jamie Lee Curtis

After the live-action One Piece series debuted on Netflix last year, a popular fan cast selected Jamie Lee Curtis to play Dr. Kureha in season 2. Curtis not only supported the fan cast, she also said she would lobby for the role after the actors’ strike ended. Unfortunately, Tomorrow Studios, the production company behind the series, has confirmed that Curtis will not be joining the show.

“She loves the show. She has too many movies and TV shows that she’s going to put into production, so our production dates aren’t going to work,” Tomorrow Studios President Becky Clements told Deadline. “She absolutely wanted to do it, but she’s got deals that come first and it just got complicated.”

Last year, Curtis was so taken with the idea of playing Dr. Kureha that she shared this fan art featuring her as the character.

Regardless, Clements indicated that “a great person” has been cast as Dr. Kureha in Season 2. The cast has not yet been announced. However, Curtis does have a starring role as Dr. Patricia Tannis in the Borderlands movie on August 9.

One Piece season 2 is currently in production, but Netflix has not yet set a premiere date.
