Troy Tiger Sharks Qualify for State Swim Meet – The Troy Messenger

On Saturday, July 13, the Troy Tiger Sharks Swim Team traveled to Dothan for the District VI Swim Meet.

The Tiger Sharks finished in 3rd place^rd overall in the district and qualified 22 swimmers in a combined total of 37 individual entries and 7 relays for the State Swimming Championships to be held July 26 in Opelika, Alabama^e-27^e.

Gwyn Parker competed in the girls 9-10 division and earned her spot at state by finishing 2nd^nd in the 100 medley, 4^e in the 50 breaststroke, 1^st in the girls 9-10 200 medley relay, and 1st in the girls 9-10 200 freestyle relay. Breaststroke

Kolbi Parker competed in the 11-12 year old girls division and earned her spot at state by finishing 4th^e in the 50 breast, 4^e in the mixed 11-12 200 meter freestyle relay, and 3^rd in the mixed 11-12 200 meter medley relay.

Piper Pennington competed in the 11-12 year old girls division and secured a spot at state by finishing 2nd^nd and achieving the state qualifying time for the 50m freestyle, 3^rd in the 50 butterfly, 3rd in the 50 breaststroke, 4th^e in the mixed 11-12 200 meter freestyle relay, and 3^rd in the mixed 11-12 200 meter medley relay.

Blakeley Smith competed in the girls 9-10 division and earned her spot at state by placing 1^st in the 9-10 girls 200 meter medley relay, 2^nd in the 50 breaststroke, 4^e in the 100 meter freestyle, 1^st in the 50 butterfly, and 1^st in the 200 meter freestyle relay for girls (9-10 years).

Katherine Rainey competed in the girls 9-10 division and earned her spot at state by placing 1^st in the 9-10 girls 200 meter medley relay, 3^rd in the 50 meter freestyle, 3^rd in the 100 meter freestyle, 2^nd in the 50 backstroke, and 1^st in the 200 meter freestyle relay for girls (9-10 years).

Baylor Smith competed in the 8 and under girls in all of her individual events and swam up an age category in her relays. She placed 3^rd in the 8 and under 25 butterfly, 1^st in the 9-10 girls 200 medley relay and 1^st in the 200 meter freestyle relay for girls (9-10 years).

Charlee Smith competed in the girls 8 and under division and secured a spot at state by finishing 4th^e in the 100 meter medley relay, achieved the state qualifying time in the 25 meter freestyle, came 2nd^nd in the 25 breaststroke, achieved the state qualifying time in the 25 backstroke and came 3rd^rd in the 100 meter freestyle relay for girls up to and including 8 years old.

Oliver Parker competed in the boys 8 and under class and earned his spot at state by placing 1^st and achieve the state qualifying time in the 25 freestyle and finish 3rd^rd in the 25 butterfly.

Adyn Norris competed in the 15-18 year old girls division and earned her spot at state by finishing 3rd^rd in the mixed 15-18 200 freestyle relay, 4^e in the 50 butterfly and 3^rd in the 50 meter backstroke.

Baylor Pennington competed in the 13-14 boys division in his individual events and one relay. He also swam in the 15-18 age division in another relay. He secured his spot at state by hitting the qualifying time and placing 1^st in the 100 meter medley, meet the qualifying time and finish in 1st place^st in the 50m freestyle, and meet the qualifying time and finish in 1st place^st in the 100 meter freestyle. He also became 1^st in the

13-14 individual medley relay and placed 3^rd in the 15-18 freestyle relay.

Jesse Swindall competed in the 13-14 boys division in his individual events and one relay, while also moving up an age category in the 15-18 division for a second relay. Jesse secured his spot at state by placing 3^rd in the 100 meter medley, 4^e in the 50 meter freestyle, 2^nd in the 50 breaststroke, 3^rd in 15-18 mixed medley relay, and 1^st in the 200 meter freestyle relay (13-14 years).

Brea Swindall competed in the 13-14 girls division in her individual events and one relay, while also moving up an age category to swim a second relay. She earned her spot for state by placing 3^rd in the 50 breaststroke, 1^st in the 200 meter medley relay 13-14, and 3^rd in the 200 meter freestyle relay (15-18 years).

Alyssa Forehand competed in the 13-14 year old girls division and earned her spot in the state by finishing 3rd^rd in the 100 meter freestyle, 1^st in the 50 butterfly, 3^rd in the 50 backstroke, and 1^st in the mixed 13-14 200 meter medley relay.

Ryan Swindall competed in the 11-12 year old boys division and earned his spot for state by finishing 2nd^nd in the 50 meter freestyle, 2^nd in the 100 meter freestyle, 4^e in the 50 backstroke, 4^e in the mixed 11-12 200 freestyle relay, 4th in the 11-12 200 freestyle relay, and 3^rd in the 200 meter medley relay 11-12.

Shelton Herndon competed in the 11-12 year old boys division and secured a spot at state by finishing 2nd^nd in the 50 butterfly and place 4^e in the 200 meter freestyle relay (11-12).

Jax Horn competed in the 9-10 boys division and swam up an age group in two relays, securing his spot at state by placing 4^e in the 50 breaststroke, 2^nd in the 100 meter freestyle, 3^rd in the 11-12 mixed 200m freestyle relay, and 3^rd in the mixed 200 meter medley relay.

Savannah Rainey competed in the girls 8 and under division and earned her spot at state by finishing 4th^e in the 25 butterfly and 4^e in the medley relay under 8 meters.

Emma Estes competed in the 8 and under girls category and earned her spot at state by finishing 4th^e in the medley relay under 8 meters.

Breena Martin competed in the 8 and under girls category and earned her spot at state by finishing 3rd^rd in the 8 and under 100 meter freestyle relay.

Hadley Felch competed in the girls under 8 class and earned her spot at state by finishing 3rd^rd in the 8 and under 100 meter freestyle relay.

Elias Meadows competed in the 11-12 year old boys division and earned her spot at state by finishing 4th^e in the 8 and under 200 meter freestyle relay.

Rosalyn Parker competed in the 8 and under division and earned her spot at state by finishing 3rd^rd in the 8 and under 100 meter freestyle relay, with a 4th place^e in the 8 and under 100 meter medley relay, 2^nd in the 25 butterfly and 3^rd in the 100 meter freestyle.

The Tiger Sharks will be coached this summer by Fairby Caldwell, Jessica Wolfe, Tori Hinson, Hailee Kokoszkam, Madison Phillips and Samantha Wilson.
