At least 5 dead, several injured after man shoots randomly in nursing home

On Monday, July 22, an identified gunman entered the building and opened fire, wounding several others.

According to Reuters, the nursing home primarily caters to elderly residents and the injured victims are currently receiving medical care.

“We are shocked by the murder of five people in the nursing home. We express our condolences to the families of the victims and hope for the recovery of the injured. I expect the competent authorities to establish all the circumstances of this terrible crime,” said Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.

Suspect kills mother in historic shooting

Croatian media reported that the perpetrator, a former war veteran born in 1973, entered the nursing home and carried out the shooting, killing his mother and four others.

The reports further revealed that the alleged suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by police near a cafe.

An investigation is underway into the motive behind the shooter’s actions.

Meanwhile, a father was killed in a train crash while trying to save his two-year-old twin daughters.

The 40-year-old man jumped onto the railway tracks to prevent the oncoming train from killing the two babies in the stroller.

Authorities revealed that the stroller ended up on the tracks due to strong winds, just after their father let go of the stroller.
